For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I pose this on Quizzes and Puzzles as this is where I see it mostly. I am referring to Best Answers. When I joined AB last year I believed that a Best Answer was of value to persons reading the question so they could go direct to the Best Answer without reading the entire thread. This is in line with the Editors terms etc, and Ed doesn't show any other reason for a BA. Since that time I have acquired several BAs, but it seems to be getting to be a bit of a rat race for first answer, then parsing follows. Some of the BASs are given out for simply asking for qualification to a question. Am I missing something about BAs and of what benefit they are to a recipient other than to accrue a vast number of them. Please can someone enlighten me. I must say that I enjoy AB Q and P, and a BA is a bonus and would be more so if I knew its purpose.
