Grating A Tomato....

.... I see from 'You Tube' that its possible to grate a tomato but I tried and it didn't really work, has anyone had success and if so how?

Why would you want to grate a tomato, jansman?
.....just chop it with a knife.
There are hundreds of types of tomatoes .. some more suitable for grating than others.
The more liquid a tomato holds, the more difficult it will be to grate ... have you thought of freezing it solid first ?

It's a recipe that calls for 'one tomato, grated'. My only thought is to get the flesh of the tomato but leave the skin, I don't really know.
Just chop it up. It will disintegrate in the cooking.
My mother used to plunge them in boiling water for a few minutes. The skins then came off easily.
Do you freeze it first ?
