I was looking online for some decoupage papers like the ones I bought in The Range yesterday. While browsing what is available, I noticed that there was somebody selling beautiful paper napkins for use on decoupage. I'm hoping that there is someone on AB who does decoupage and can tell me if paper napkins are suitable. I want to cover boxes to decorate and have previously used the "rice paper" type. If paper napkins are used, do you have to put clear varnish on top. T.I.A.

yes you can use them. They are a bit more fragile to get on than the decopatch type tissue papers. Yes you need to put a protective coat on afterwards, I would use the pva specially for decoupage type finishes as varnish might make the colours run

Thanks Woof. There's some very beautiful designs, so I think I'll have a go.
I have used paper napkins at craft classes but we had to separate the napkins to make them thin enough to use.
