Change Over Number From O2 - Giffgaff. Problem

i changed my o2 number to giffgaff, today is my changeover day. so today i switched phone on and i tried make a call to a friend , it says ( not registered on network ) so i took the o2 sim out and inserted the new giffgaff sim into phone.
that was 4 hrs ago. now the new giffgaff sim is still saying ( not registered on network) and my new number still not changed over.
help
