You can't stop it happening Cannedgranny. Whoever posts a question is invited to mark one of the responses as the one that they think best answers the question. For instance, it sounds to me like hc4361 gave the best answer to your question; if you agree you just click on the "Mark as best answer" next to his response. It's not compulsory to select a best answer but lots of people like their efforts being acknowledged.
Only the person who asks the question in the first place gets the option to select a Best Answer. When I look at this thread there is no "Mark as Best Answer" against the responses. If you go back and look at any of the threads you started by asking a question you will see the option against the responses.
The woman arrived in England on a six month visitor visa. I bet she didn't mention in her application that it was her wish/intention to live the rest of her life in England with her daughter. According to the media she had sold everything in S. A. before coming to England. Her family has been quoted saying the mother can afford private medical care in the UK on her £300 per month pension so will not be a burden to the state. Really?
Furthermore, the daughter was quoted as saying that she and her husband would not be permitted to live in S. A. to look after her mother. So I gather at least they understand that part of the legal system.
Her solicitor has said that they now have more time to submit fresh evidence for the Home Office to reconsider their initial refusal decision.
I will wait with interest to see what further evidence that is. It is quite staggering, imo, that 74,000 people signed an on-line petition for her to stay in the UK. I pray they also signed the meningitis vaccination petition.
