Anybody tried the new newspaper from the Mirror Group,"The New Day " ?

http://www.theguardian.com/media/greenslade/2016/feb/22/its-the-new-day-first-look-at-trinity-mirrors-new-newspaper

Its free today, so I thought it was worth a go. Brighter than the Mirror, printed on white paper, not light grey, not as rabid as the Sun, more serious than the Express ( but what isn't ) and its not Tory like the DM. Its not too bad although I can't see it ever replacing my Guardian.

I suppose it will sell reasonably well to some people, although it didn't have enough C list celebrity gossip and not nearly enough sport ( only 2 pages ! ) to appeal to those that want something not too challenging to read in the lunch break on the building site.

The i paper is still the best in this sector of the market though.

Will I pay good money for it tomorrow ? ......I don't think so.

"I am working class, and I am a leftie"

full of surprises, arent you mikey !?
bazwillrun, don't believe him! He's a closet Conservative - and a snob to boot! ;o

///appeal to those that want something not too challenging to read in the lunch break on the building site.///

/// but we don't all keep our coal in the bath.///

Wow, just how patronising is ^^ that?
You're all jealous because mikey's a Guardian reading intellectual. (;o))
That's an oxymoron.
We all know that, jd. (except maybe the 2x4's that read it)

/// AOG......why are you using the word "common" ?....I didn't ! ///

It matters not one iota whether or not you used the word, 'common' besides it is not a derogative word to use in this case.

I know mikey doesn't like to use the word but he is a 'common' left-wing labour supporter. :0)

Where is the paper pitched? Not politically, but market segment. Is it a left leaning Daily Mail, or is it going after The Guardian / Independent market?
to appeal to those that want something not too challenging to read in the lunch break on the building site.

lol ... that's me that is!

But if I want to read something during my break that's not too challenging ... I read what mikey has posted on AB. ;0)
I thought this was quite a good offering. I like the way they present topics and give opposing views. I averted my gaze from the sickly blurb on the inside cover though ...
I think the Independent has it right here, there's no future in paper editions.
Well, tomorrow is another day but once some initial curiosity dies down and the 50p price kicks in, I reckon that there will be plenty of recycling material.
"I think the Independent has it right here, there's no future in paper editions. "

There was plainly no future for the Indie as a paper, but paper editions will be with us for years to some. The Indie was just a bit .. dull really and couldn't compete with the other quality papers

SP...." a left leaning Daily Mail" ?

Even the most rudimentary perusal of this new newspaper would instantly give you the answer to your question. Can I presume that you didn't avail yourself of todays free copy ?

Ichkeria....alas you may be right there....just too dull !
I repeat;

///appeal to those that want something not too challenging to read in the lunch break on the building site.///

/// but we don't all keep our coal in the bath.///

Wow, just how patronising is ^^ that?
it's a masturbatory synonym of tankers and full of dross that may have attracted the London Rubber Co to invest, the only thing needed in the average household a mass of paper-tissue to wipe the mess up.
