Be warned...it is addictive! Start with what you know and work backwards. Look on sites like www.genesreunited.co.uk (not just for UK users) and www.1837online.co.uk - good luck.

Talk to relatives - especially the older members of your family. Write down what they tell you - it may not be relevant now but it may very well come in handy later on (and more so if they are no longer around). Word of caution though don't believe everything they tell you - verify everything from a second source. We have just been speaking to my mum in law about her uncle's accident (what she tells us is the truth) but I have three other versions of the same accident from other members of the family). Also ask them if they have cerificates and make notes from them to help you on your way. Good luck.
