What is a good product for spraying into radio receivers etc in order to get rid of the "noise" when you're using the volume, tuning, and other controls? I used to have some years ago, but I forget what it was. You just remove the knobs and spray inside the unit.

Zacs, WD40, when it dries, leaves a gummy residue so I can't see that working really. Sunny-dave, that sounds like the stuff I had..Thanks

Zacs, I just Googled contact cleaner, and it seems that WD40 does make it...I thought you meant ordinary WD40.

Thanks, people. I found a product called "Revive" electrical cleaner at $6.70 a can...I'll try that.
I've been using WD40 for around 40 years to clean the pots in my various guitars and basses, and it works fine. Many products described as Contact Cleaners include chemicals that damage the lacquer or paint on guitars; any overspray or spillage of WD40 can just be wiped off.

I always found cranking the button clockwise/anticlockwise fully several times made a difference, if only for a short time.
