I wonder how The Beatles would have done without him? They'd maybe not have gone on to be the superstars they became.

George Martin's contribution to the Beatles cannot be exaggerated.

If you listen to the Decca audition tapes (before they were famous) you have to say they were not very good. This is why Decca turned them down.

Yet just a few months later George Martin was producing hit after hit (with great Lennon / McCartney songs it must be said).

As sandyroe says above, while they may still have become a famous band I doubt they would have become the world superstars without George Martin.

Meeting him and him becoming their producer was the best bit of "luck" the Beatles had.

Well done George and sad to see you go.

RIP George. I wonder what the Beatles would have sounded like without him. Those strings in the background of Eleanor Rigby were arranged by him.

It has been said that without him, the Beatles might not have existed !

True, without George Martin, The Beatles may well have faded into obscurity. Then again, without The Beatles, i dare say the name 'George Martin' would not have meant much to those outside the classical music genre. I wasn't a Beatles fan (save for the excellent Sgt Pepper album) but i am well aware that the coming together of the group and the producer was, indeed, a marriage made in the recording studio. RIP George.
