Wrl0001.tmp Files

Do these things do anything when writing in Word....Can I delete them safely without impacting on my doc files? It's just that they seem to be clogging the main file up..... Can I prevent them from being created?
Windows 10 is the platform.
Thanks......

This is why they gave the extension "tmp" (temporary)
When do you see them?
If it is when you open Word and then search for a document?
If so then you may have the option "All files" selected instead of "All Word files".
"All files" will show you every file in the folder, "All Word Files" will only show you word files (doc, docx etc)
btw These tmp files are probably quite small so are not taking up a lot of room.
