Last night ITV showed the first episode of Houdini and Doyle.
If you want to see the rest of the series you have to subscribe to Sky to watch it on ITV Encore

I think it's outrageous.

Some properties are not allowed to have a satellite dish.
Houdini and Doyle is available on the ITV Hub.
Mamy...you may well be a licence-payer, but what's that got to do with ITV and their marketing decisions? Nothing!
>>>I and all other licence payers too pay for ITV

No you don't, the license fee does not pay for ITV, they get their money from adverts.

The license fee pays for having a TV receiver in your house, then much of the money from the license fee goes to fund the BBC not ITV.

So ITV have made the choice to show this program on ITV Encore, maybe they got a "fee" from Sky to do encourage them to do that.

But if it was not for the money ITV got from Sky (if indeed they did give ITV money) you would not have seen episode 1 at all.

Too many people have had "free" TV for years, but the days of free TV are coming to an end. Even the BBC may become a "pay to view" service in the future, maybe for certain BBC programs or certain BBC channels.

Jomlett, the first episode which was shown last night on ITV is available on ITV hub. The rest of the series won't be.
Well Ive just seen it on the ITV Hub and Steven Mangan as Doyle is excellent.
Oh sorry I misread your last post...All ITV Encore programmes are on the ITV Hub, how can you say Houdini and Doyle won't be? The 1st episode I downloaded was listed as ITV Encore.
Stephen Mangan actually!

Oh I wish there was an Edit button on The AnswerBank!
I had no idea - how many people will they put off with that?
My post has been misunderstood, ITV has always been a free to air Channel - they can farm out their programmes as they see fit for marketing reasons and put them on other channels, but don't tease those who may (I wasn't) be duped into thinking they were possibly seeing the start of a new series.

I'm looking at the ITV Hub on my pc and can't see Encore or Houdini and Doyle.
hc - snap...
Sorry I found it on Sky Catchup! It is not, as you say, on the ITV website, or my Smart TV's ITV HUB. The show is made for FOX, ITV and Global Television Network so must have viewing restrictions, yet is only on, as I say, the ITV Hub on Sky Catchup.
