I have had my wisdom teeth coming through in stages for about 2years. They are always painful but this time th pain is just under my jaw bone. It felt like a swollen gland and when i was in the shower i was having a look there was some yellow stuff which i thought was food but when i picked it off more came out and it tasted dead metalic! I really dont want to go to the dentist unless totally necessary so what else can i do?

Thats bacteria hunny, need to clean your teeth better x

I had this with my wisdom teeth. Asked a neighbour who was a dentist at the time (but not mine) and he said to keep it clean (mouthwash it etc) and keep removing the 'yellow stuff' with clean cotton buds. For any pain Ambusol(sp?) is very good. Tastes vile but works.

Never suffered any problems since.

Would always suggest that if you are at all concerned, to go get it checked, though.

Yeah, i've had my wisdom teeth coming through since i was 14! and every six months to a year i go through a horrible stage of tooth ache and a sore throat and the nasty metallic taste! i'm guessing the yellow stuff is puss, usually a sign of an infection (but don't quote me!) It might be an idea to call the dentist or your doctor and ask if this is normal coz if it is i woudnt worry about it, but if it is an infection you can get some tablets to clear it up! (can't remember if i had that as it is so long ago' i'm 21 now!)

Thankyou purpose. And girl, i would clean them better if i could get the toothbrush anywhere near! Even the slightest touch and im in agony!! Im using cordasyl mouthwash and it feels a bit better with that
Poor u! I was really lucky wiv mine, had no problems with them coming thru at all. U could wrap ur head in a hanky like theyused to do in the good old days x

Snappy, i used to be a dental nurse and it sounds to me like you have an abcess. that would be why it's swollen and the yellow stuff will be pus. I hate to say it but the only way to get that sorted is to go the the dentist. they may give you anti-biotics to take the infection down for now, but it will just keep coming back again, so they'll recommend having the tooth out thats causing the problems. Wisdom teeth are very hard to keep clean because of how far back they are, and they can also cause decay in the tooth infront if they are squashed together, which may be what has caused your infection. Mouthwash might help for a few days but if the abcess is bad (and if it's swollen and leaking pus then it probably is) then you'll need anti-biotics to get rid of it.

I know so many people hate the dentist but it's worth a half hour appointment to get you out of pain! I've seen so many people with nasty infections and the relief on their faces after the tooth has gone and the infection releases is always one of happiness! Be brave and get yourself a dentist appointment asap! it will be worth it I promise!

sounds like an abbsess to me

sorry for the spelling....
