Asked a neighbour who was a dentist at the time (but not mine) and he said to keep it clean (mouthwash it etc) and keep removing the 'yellow stuff' with clean cotton buds. For any pain Ambusol(sp?) is very good. Tastes vile but works.
Never suffered any problems since.
Would always suggest that if you are at all concerned, to go get it checked, though.
Snappy, i used to be a dental nurse and it sounds to me like you have an abcess. that would be why it's swollen and the yellow stuff will be pus. I hate to say it but the only way to get that sorted is to go the the dentist. they may give you anti-biotics to take the infection down for now, but it will just keep coming back again, so they'll recommend having the tooth out thats causing the problems. Wisdom teeth are very hard to keep clean because of how far back they are, and they can also cause decay in the tooth infront if they are squashed together, which may be what has caused your infection. Mouthwash might help for a few days but if the abcess is bad (and if it's swollen and leaking pus then it probably is) then you'll need anti-biotics to get rid of it.
I know so many people hate the dentist but it's worth a half hour appointment to get you out of pain! I've seen so many people with nasty infections and the relief on their faces after the tooth has gone and the infection releases is always one of happiness! Be brave and get yourself a dentist appointment asap! it will be worth it I promise!
