I'm really not concerned whether or where the games take place as long as they do not land the UK with them. We had enough of that in 2012. Better really if they quietly died. Save everybody the aggro of "bidding" to host them (and either bankrupting their nation or saddling their taxpayers with a huge debt).

This and the crisis in Nigeria seem to me to be unexpected results of the low oil price. Both Nigeria and Brazil have huge revenue from oil, which up to now was enough to pay off the bribes yet still leave enough to run the economy.
Now with the price of crude at $30 a barrel the cash will not stretch to fund the bribes and the economy. Nigeria is bankrupt despite getting $Billions in oil revenue, it is estimated 90% of Nigeria's oil revenue is 'stolen' in bribes theft and paybacks. Brazil is suffering much the same.

"From the evidence provided by the link, I can't see why the Olympics can't go ahead." - Have you seen this program on the TV mikey, we call it "The News" - the country is half way round the U bend, I doubt they'll be too bothered about finishing what is needed for the Olympics let alone running the infrastructure to host the world. Yes they could no doubt run all the events after a fashion but I think the IOC may well conclude that they'd better move it.
