i have just acquired a laptop. i find the manual confusing. i need a website where the intricacies of connecting the thing to the net (and, indeed, using it instead of the desktop system i have now) are explained, step by step, so that idiots like me can understand. i have broadband, by the way. can anyone help?

Can't you just plug your broadband modem into the laptop instead of the desktop and then use the set up CD that ISP's usually send with broadband modems?

If your broadband modem connects via an ethernet cable (looks like a chunky phone line cable, with phone-style ends), you should just be able to connect it to the laptop and turn both things on, and have it connect.
