Like Callyatl, I was stuck on this 19a & d pair. I had kind-of worked it out as 'fiacre' and 'flowers', given the same inital letter and the crossers (and looking up 'fiacre'), but I still can't parse either of them. I get 'acres', 'f' for fine and 'lowers', but not the rest.
Can anyone explain? I'd be most grateful.
Otherwise this was a straightforward and enjoyable crossword...
