I've done a really stupid thing and somehow changed the display colours on my screen - I can barely read them now - I think I went into settings but honestly, I'm so stupid with computers I should have left things alone - I thought my screen was too bright and tried to change it. Now I hav a black background with lurid green/blue/purple text. Terrible. Have been back into settings and can't get to the 'page' when I changed things. Sorry to be a nuisance about computers.
I don't use W10 but you can normally find the settings that you require via right-clicking on your desktop. (With W7 it's under 'Personalize' but I feel sure that Microsoft will have made it much harder to find in W10 !)
Hi rsvp. go into settings by clicking on the windows icon bottom left or by pressing the windows key our board. click Settings click System click Display. Scroll down to the brightness slider and see if that puts it right. Have you been trying to set themes and background colours, screensavers, and wallpaper?
togo the answer to your last sentence is 'maybe'!!!! - I can get to where you have directed me but that doesn't solve the problem - my whole desktop display has altered - I do remember clicking on an option which gave me suggestions for the display and I thought - 'that may be nice' so I tried it - now I can't get back there to undo it.
0G thank you - all connections good - I've changed something and I can't understand what and can't work out how to change it back - must really be getting old!
Don't panic rsvp. You haven't broken it. Right lets try this. Go back into settings with the windows icon. Select System then Display. Scroll down to the bottom and click Advanced display settings. Click Colour calibration. Bottom right click next after reading the few lines and follow the instructions.
Haaa I think I can see what you have done rsvp. I have just symptoms on my screen and thought my eyes were only seeing in infra red. Settings...Personalisation.. Themes..... Theme Settings. Right now using the slider on the right in the little display in the middle, scroll down to High Contras themes, and click on the high contrast WHITE option of the 4 choices.
Togo get so far with your suggestions but get stymied with a window saying ....to get started move this window onto the display you want to calibrate - am seriously old person therefore no idea what that means - have done a systems restore before though - what can I have done though????
Togo have done that (clicked the high contrast white) but that hasn't change things when I click off that screen - thank you so much for your patience.
Togo you have been so helpful and patient - I can't thank you enough for all the effort you've put in to help (I was particulary comforted with the 'O K rsvp -you haven't broken anything so.....) next time the pilot of my private plane suffers a heart attact and I have to land the thing I want you in the control tower! - however, somehow I seem to have pressed the right buttons and my computer is back on track and without having to do a systems restore - thank you bookbinder for that suggestion and having checked my connections (nod to Og) thank you so much AB - (am sure Buenochico knows I'm forever in his debt)
