Can use both but found bifocals distracting, all that having to peer through the top or bottom of the lens is not only uninstinctive it seems positively weird. Varifocals seemed weird too at first but I think I've got used to them. Probably my eyes are simply so bad I can't tell if I'm looking through the right bit and simply accept it all slightly not quite right.
Neither are an ideal solution but seems the best technology can come up with at the moment. One needs tech that detects what you are looking at and adjusts the lens to suit. But there is little alternative. Multiple pairs of glasses are a pain, and one will continually get left behind or even lost.
