There was an Old Man with a Beard
BY EDWARD LEAR
There was an Old Man with a beard,
Who said, "It is just as I feared!—
Two Owls and a Hen, four Larks and a Wren,
Have all built their nests in my beard.
And.... I presume that 14across (Cabinet Minister broke up with this short Bond girl, 6,6) is Whisky Galore - but why is it??
And I must be wrong somewhere with 1across (Hates working for someone who might wield the axe,8), for which I have A?H?R?O?.
Grrrrrr.
Ha ha Mamy I knew the Galore connection but not the Whisky parse you provided. I got 1A by default. I was thinking of the Abhorson trilogy of books from about 10 years ago. Didn't know the Shakespeare link.
