I saw a wet floor in a shopping centre with German caution cones (as this was in the UK I'm not sure why). If I fell over could I sue them successfully? Would having German cones be enough of a defence for them?

What did the warning signs say, Marshwarble?

They did say caution, but a lot of other unknown words after that.
I've never seen cones with a written warning on in any language.
Achtung!
erm
Nichty nochty shlippen

I would think

I am not sure that there is a legal duty to put up signs
so long as you take precautions ( man with red flag etc )
or clear it up
Perhaps these are the latset things to become multilingual?
Were you in Germany at the time, Marsh?
They must have been a job lot from Aldi or Lidl

Well, not in Berlin it would seem...

My mistake. They evidently were English.
Seriously there were caution signs out - you acknowledge that you saw the signs but because you are saying they were not in English you still fell over!!! Perhaps they should sue you!
That's what I love about how this country has become.
"What mileage and how much can I get if I sue."
Meanwhile those who work hard for their family do not give compensashun a thought.
If I saw a wet floor with cones where they normally wouldn't be I think I would have the nous to realise. Unless I was blind or thick!!!
If the "wet floor" signs were in English we would still have some Muppet wondering if they could sue if they tripped over them. Pathetic.
To be fair, those cones might have said, 'Walk Here' (or even Run) in German.
Islay- the poster hasn't said he/she fell over them. I read it as a hypothetical question
