Have I Broken The Law Expressed Opinion About Polish People Over The Phone Had A Letter

Hi there
I am worried I may have said something and got myself into trouble. I phoned a large educational establishment for course information on tuesday and I spoke to a polish person i was annoyed she was doing a clerical job and I told her she should be waitressing and not doing a clerical job as I am looking for work but never getting anywhere and I said that she had it too good in Scotland compared to Poland. Anyway I had a letter saying that this behaviour was unacceptable and in future dealings not to express nationalist comments and the call had been recorded. They didnt remove me from the course.They sent me a link about equality and diversity policy and student discipline but not a student yet. I am now totally paranoid that I am going to get arrested. But my friend says I would have heard by now and they wouldnt have written to warn me if they were going to take things further. My mouth will get me into trouble one day I just was in a bad mood and I took it out on someone very silly.

At the very least. Sent a written apology to the lady. I'd hate to think she may get the impression that all Scots as re prats.

i can't think of any crime you couldbe arrested for really. The usual "inciting racial haterd" doesn't really apply here i reckon.
i don't think you can be arrested for simply being rude and ignorant

It is unlikely the police will be involved.
I hope you have the backbone to go and apologise to the lady for your boorish behaviour.

How rude and uncalled for - no you won't get into trouble with the 'law' but your lucky you still have a course!

I would watch what you say in future!!
