I very rarely fly at all these days, and even when I do, it isn't usually on charter flights, so I don't see much of this sort of thing. I do recall, however, going skiing one year, many years ago now, and being greatly entertained by a rugby club singing rugby songs, all the way to Milan ! They were undoubtedly "merry" but good natured all the same....we had them on the way back a week later as well.
Prudie.......like you, I can't see why this particular incident is such news, as they must be a reasonably regular occurrence. Or are we led to believe that airlines are not ejecting drunks ?
You can get alcohol in departures. I watched one bloke down about 6 cans from Ireland to England. Although he didn't cause any bother the police were waiting for him when we landed. I suspect that's why he was downing cans...
It`s not just the Brits. In fact, Scandinavians have it down to a fine art. I was coming back from holiday recently and there was a very drunk Polish guy (he was from a ship`s crew) in the security queue. Not only was he drunk but his language in front of everyone was apalling. He was going to Dubai and saw one of the crew and warned them that there was a very *** passenger heading their way. Hopefully, they would have denied him boarding or at least read him the riot act - I know I would have.
237SJ, "No one" should be allowed to board a plane that looks Izzed, why should other passengers have to put up with it? a lot of passengers are scared of flying never mind putting up with the Izz heads.
TWR....some people drink because they are scared. I couldn't board a flight without a drink. I never get drunk, and I never drink on board, but I need those couple of drinks to help calm my nerves. I still get teary though.
No I think it is a lurch in the right direction
Airlines have the power to ban passengers for whatever and for no reason
I was a chinese restaurant once and demanded a non-singing table...
the mgr was taken aback
but it was 18 30 and the singing at the next table was abominable
