rubber smell-getting rid?

I've just boughrt a sheet of 6mm ribbed rubber to line the boot of my car but it really smells strongly of rubber. Any tips on how to get rid of the smell before I fit it?

Leave it outside overnight?

Done that, 3rd night now, still stinks really strong.

Just a guess so apols if it is too daft... could you put it outside and wash it with car shampoo (or similar) and blast it with a power-washy-spray thing afterwards?

Well its been out in all this rain but I could try the powerwasher and some strong detergent. I just can't get over just how strong the smell is.

where did you get it from? since i was pregnant i love the smell of rubber!
