Whats the cheapest way to run broadband and a home phone? I seem to be paying a lot for them (about 55 per month). Any ideas?

I pay 18 a month to AOL and 22 a month to BT but thats it. I dont pay anything else to BT when the bill comes in. I have unlimited broadband.
I pay 14.99 per month to Tiscali and get very cheap phone calls and unlimited Broadband.

My suggestion would be to get the cheapest BT package possible and then not use the phone at all. In my house we have done this simply to receive calls. If we need to make out-going calls we use up the minutes on our mobile phones, but mostly use SKYPE (www.skype.com). Skype enables us to make free calls to other online friends of ours, and if we need to call a land/mobile line, we do so for less than 1p a minute.

I used to use skype, but then found voipcheap. If you credit your account with 5, you get free calls to any landline in Europe. I did this months ago and have had free calls ever since, and my 5 is still there. Have a look here

Had you looked at the carphone warehouse deal that launched last month where you get up to 8meg broadband (40GB a month limit) and your phoneline for a total cost pf about 20 odd a month.

Option 1 with BT and then all calls are free with Tiscali and 2MB broadband for 22.

Be careful with 8Mb packages, the exchanges are still being updated.
