I wanted matching platinum rings for my wife and I, until I found out the cost! I have word a ring since we got married - it's an unusual design, often comented on, and I've worn it every day since our marriage 17 years ago. I think it's a nice visible sign of commitment, but it is a personal thing, some men just don't like jewellry.
I don't wear any jewellery except my wedding ring and a ring my then future wife bought me for Christmas in 1980.
I feel almost naked without them if I'm going out yet I never wear them if I'm doing any sort of work... I feel it's dangerous to do so having caught them a number of times on door handles and other objects!
As with most things, it is personal choice, but for hubby and me, we both wear wedding rings and have not taken them off in the (almost) 11 years we have been married. Although we bought matching, gold bands, it is the symbolism of unity rather than how expensive or flash the rings that is more important to us.
it's a good idea and symbolises a good union but practically it can be troublesome as if you work in a job where you can suffer injuries to your hands can mean your ring having to be cut off when your hands swell up and having to take them off when you wash means you can loose them , I being such one such plonker who has lost one engagement ,one wedding and one wedding ring replacement over the years . I still have the wife fortunately which is the most important thing
mrsinci now has a shiny new ring. I dont. It miffed her a bit that i wouldnt but in my family and neck of the woods the woman wears the ring. I would fel very strange doing so. Im not sure where men wearing them came from. it certainly isnt in the book of common prayer, and so was not a jacobean protestant english thing. any clues?
I promised myself that once I married I would commit to wearing forever. It seems to me (personal opinion, mind) that few young black men seem to wear them. I thought it would be a clear sign to other ladies that I'm unavailable. Strangely, then after a while they turn to me and say 'I didn't know you were married?' So I'm like ' . . .hmm . . .'
