Until now, his tax affairs were his affairs - but now Dave has changed the game and the 'Caesar's Wife' principle has been pushed forwards. I have no particular desire to know about his tax returns, but from now on clarity will be imperative.

He is within his rights, but the recent actions of his peers, colleagues and antics of those in The City now mean that anyone who presents themselves to be elected for public office will have to show 100% transparency in all facets of their lives......the idiots.
If you're making a small fortune (as many are) why on earth would you want to be a politician, when you could play a quick 9 in the morning at the local club in Nassau, spot of lunch then beers, beach and BBQ for the rest of the day and do so for 6 months of the year?

We must ensure that the tax returns of all MPs are open to public scrutiny, including anyone who works in local government,(including council employees), the Health Service, or any project, or construction works paid for with public money. We may also want to make it illegal (punishable with punitive fines and property seizures) for any transaction to take place on a cash in hand basis for goods or services of any kind.
