Queens Garden Party
6 Answers
I hope I am posting this under the right section - can anyone help? If you are invited to the Queen's Garden party by the Lord Chamberlain and choose to accept is it not true that you can take the day off work to attend without having to take a days holiday from work? I've heard this is the case and want to check before I demand a days holiday back from my employer? ha ha

Technically it's because you are said to be representing the Department you work, for so it counts as a day at work. I'm guessing - and it's only a guess - that the same would apply to the armed forces and such as the police, fire brigade and so on. Otherwise I would think it depends on the individual employer - I doubt there's any legislation saying it's a right.
