irn bru

When I was a kid (during the 60's) I had never ever heard of Irn Bru until I went on a holiday to Scotland and it was offered to me for the first time. I thought it was something that you could only buy in Scotland. I see now that you can buy it in England as well - am I right in thinking it was only available in Scotland back then or am I wrong ? Thanks

I think it was at the time ,, but like everything scottish the english have a need to get there hands on it ..lol

Now if My hubby in the States could get it right now hes be a really happy chappy.

You are mistaken about that Lady _ P_gold as a youngster my favourite drink was Tizer whereas I couldn't stand Irn Bru or Iron Brew as I think it became known, I always thought it tasted like water out of a rusty pipe

Irn Bru and Tizer are two completly different drinks. The only thing the same about them is the colour.

When our kids were small we used to buy it take it out to one of the Lochs or Rivers and wedge it in the water to keep it cold. They loved it and still remember it today. I think it was easily available in England in the late 1970's can't say about before then though.

Iron Brew was the 'cheap' copy version of Irn Bru, and it was nasty, nasty, nasty! Unlike Irn Bru which is yummy when you haven't had one for a while. Afraid to say it tends to be of a morning when I'm not feeling my best!

MNKO the catchphrase was - Irn Brew in Scotland FROM girders. Girders are large iron beams.

Most sugary soft drink you can find - much worse than Coke etc.
I think it was only sold in Scotland for a while (the only country where anything outsells Coke/Pepsi) but you can now find it anywhere.
