yep, the escalators down to the bakerloo line were last refurbished in about 1991 so it's time they were done again - so the bakerloo platforms are shut until the summer. you'll need to change elsewhere from the bakerloo to the circle/hammersmith lines; or, go central line to lancaster gate and it's a short walk from there.
there aren't engineering works on the Bakerloo line, it's the station improvements (the escalators) and providing access to the Elizabeth line that are causing the closure. The Bakerloo line is fine and trains are going through on it, just not stopping. The service will be restored in time for carnival.
Waterloo's closer; the theatre's only a couple of humdred yards from the Jubilee line exit. Go from Paddington to Baker St on the Hammersmith & City or Circle lines, then change on to the Jubilee line (more frequent than the Bakerloo) and go to Waterloo. Up the escalators and turn right after you get onto the street.
