Lip Service

Can someone please tell me what the expression 'Lip Service' means?

If one pays service to something with ones lips only, but not their inner self, then one is either not going to do what one says, or are insincere in ones intentions. The expression appears to originate from the Bible in Isaiah 29:13 (and repeated in Matthew 15:8): �this people draw near to me with their mouth and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their hearts far form me��
