is driving me nuts.
Can't find where to take the batteries out, it's an SF4SOEN model if that helps.
Inside the flap it says '3 chirps a minute means it's coming to the end of its life'
That's not chirps, it's blooming bleeps of the highest volume

Should I just get a hammer out and introduce it to small pieces?

I'd take the hammer route, yes.

I'd take the hammer route, yes.

Try unscrewing the whole outer cover, we've had fire alarms like that
Nearest I can find, Alba. Only lasts 7 years apparently...

Snap!
END OF UNIT LIFE
The unit will operate for up to 7 years under normal use. The unit
must be replaced when either the end of life signal is given (buzzer
sounds 3 times per minute) or a fault warning signal (1 or 2 chirps
per minute) is given.
DISPOSAL
When the unit has come to the end of its life, dispose of it in
accordance with local regulations.
Seeing as you need to replace it asap, then a hammer is fine. Battering with a hammer is good stress relief.
what make is it (not the number)some wont let you change the batteries you have to buy a new alarm

Honeywell Analytics are not very Honey really lol

there is one very, very tiny screw slot on the back of the thing.
Need a screw-driver the size of a thing that you get in an Xmas cracker.

Thank you all for your kind replies, but am really, really tempted by Mamya's :D xx
no you cant change the battery on this model
Consider your subject carefully as you wield the hammer Alba ;-)
It can't be nore difficult than replacing the cmos battery in my laptop which involved reducing it to its constituent parts before the battery became accessible. All for want of 2" of wire.
Try cutting the housing in half with a junior hacksaw...nothing to lose.

You could drown it?
Question Author
drown it ?!!
dear lawd, wot sort of monster do ya think I am lol

Anyhoo, Mr Alba did something to it when he came home. Involved a stanley knife and all he said was 'I've switched it off'
Am really none the wiser as to wot he went and did, but at least it's now been put out of my misery.

Many thanks for your replies xx
A knife is so much more subtle than a hammer, same result though :-)
Can we have a wake for it?......I'm in the mood for a party....x
