Saving Files Etc In A "cloud"

What actualy is this Cloud and how do you save to iy. Is it actually better then a USB Device to save all your files and folders.

It's someone's server out on the Net somewhere. I'd not touch it for anything except irrelevant things as I don't think they can ever guarantee 100% security of your private data. Too many reported incidents of data grabs in the news. IMO USB flash drive wins every time for day to day use. Back data up regularly elsewhere yourself.

I've got all my music and photos backed up to the cloud, most of my documents, too.

Very convenient.

As long as you have a decent Internet connection - particularly your upload speed.
My land line upload speed is 0.46 Mbps on a good day which means backing up to the cloud is a bit of a joke.
On the other hand, my cellular upload speed is around 4.5 Mbps, so my phone gets backed up to the cloud.

photos music is ok but i would never put any private docs \ paswords on the cloud

... just for comparison, backing up to my cheap Intenso USB3 HDD runs at around 960 Mbps

I would not upload any documents that are critical to you...finance, insurance etc. to the cloud. Music, video, pictures etc are fine.

Thanks for all the replies bieng of ancient years I think I will stick to the old and trusted and EASY way of doing things ie my USB and Portable Hard Drive. The USB have served me well over 3-4 new computers over the years.
