Apple Id Query

I've received two emails today, supposedly from Apple, saying that my Apple ID has been blocked due to multiple attempts from a foreign country to gain access to the account. I'm assuming this is a scam? 'Dear Customer', and sent from a vague email address. Could someone confirm, please, whether I'm right to ignore it?

Ignore it. If in doubt, go to iTunes and try to login, don't follow link on email though.

Yea .... as Rocky said, ignore it.
If you ever get any emails, asking you to sign in via a link in the email, it'll more than likely be a scam .... if in doubt, access the site in question by typing the address into the address bar .... NEVER follow a link as you'll more than likely end up being scammed in some way :(

Thanks to both. Yes, I knew that I shouldn't click on a link. However, it has shown up an interesting (to me, anyway), fact: I didn't have an Apple ID at all. I tried logging in to itunes as suggested, but couldn't do it; then discovered that I'd never signed up to Apple. I've only used itunes in the past to copy stuff from individual CDs on to the hard drive and to a composite CD, and must have succeeded in doing this without the ID. I've now done that and it all looks genuine. So the scam email has been some use.
