I had to pick up my repeat prescription yesterday but it wasn't "signed" by the doctor - receptionist duly informed me that I wasn't getting a certain prescription and so to see the doctor.

The more I think of it - I think it a total disgrace that receptionists know so much personal information re a patient. An absolute disgrace.

JJ's reply reminds me of a story in the Spike Milligan 'War Biography'
A line of men were waiting for their medication. The pharmacist shouts out ''Blue Unction, Blue Unction, who's is this Blue Unction?''
As the men all knew that Blue Unction had but one use only 'to kill crabs' there were no answers.
The pharmacist shouted again and again , eventually a man stepped forward and announced ''Yes it's mine, I've got Bloody crabs!''
Sorry...submitted too soon.

either that or the doctor is required to come to you and explain?
Receptionist (at the top of her voice):

"Who's next for the VD clinic?"
i also honestly don't get what the problem is
Yes I remember Spike's "Blue Unction" tale as recalled by Eddie.

It’s certainly not the receptionist knowing your ailments that you need to worry about:

Jenny you think about things too much and let things wind you up too much as well.
It's not all incompetence and madness you know, some of it is there to help you.
