So better to just ignore it then?

Webbo03....no, I don't think so.

Whatever else terrorists are, they are not stupid, and I am sure that they don't need the to media to tell them where Britain's vulnerable places are.

This report originated from the Police Federation.
The papers are carrying the report too.
I'd be very surprised if terrorists couldn't work out the easier from the more difficult targets. Still couldn't be casual thought, these places still have security. But ensuring that is secure in these places is no bad idea. Ought not rely on individuals standing up to demands whilst under threat.
We've long had an 'it'll be fine' attitude to stuff like this.
Britain always does it on the cheap with fingers crossed.
The spending habits and ineptitude of our leaders beggar belief.
Doesn't exactly help drawing attention to things though.
Power stations and oil refineries have always been the target of the aggressor.
The Luftwaffe found Gas Holders an easy target. Any power source which would be utilised for production etc. My father told me how seriously the authorities in Chelsea regarded the safety of Lots Road power station during the last war. The threat of German fallshirmjager (parachutists) descending from the skies was so great they gave my father a 6 shot .22 Webley pistol and told him to defend it!!!!
I would take anything the BBC,the media and the Police Federation say about the security of these establishments with a pinch of salt.
I dont think the terrorists (apart from perhaps really thick loners) have learnt anything from this.

Having spent some time at a Nuclear installation up North I would say the biggest threat was within. Health and Safety didnt seem to exist, even in my anti 'elf 'n saftey eyes!
So i take it these installations are protected by armed guards .

Who provides these guards ?
Bazile, from the link. // Nuclear power plants in Britain are guarded by the Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC), whose officers are routinely armed, while firearms officers of the Ministry of Defence Police are responsible for facilities such as the Atomic Weapons Establishment at Aldermaston in Berkshire.//
thanks
The CNC are a highly funded well equipped and armed police service. They are rather shy as to the tools of their trade but you wouldn't want to come up against them.
They purchased a whole range for themselves at Bisley to practise on and it is used regularly. That didn't come cheaply.
