My husband and I have seperated but not divorced. I had my family surname as my middle name and took his as my married name. I would like to drop his surname so my middle/family name becomes my surname on my bank account,work/wages,driving licence, household bills etc. Can I just do this when I change my address or do I have to do something legally?

You may call yourself whatever name you choose. But some documents such as a passport may still need to be in your married name as this is your legal name on the register. You can do a deed poll yourself using https://www.gov.uk/change-name-deed-poll/overview and then your family name becomes your surname legally.
