Crosswords in pen or pencil???

We usually do crosswords first in pencil then in pen before sending off. This sometimes leads to spelling mistakes as it is often hard to make out the pencil especially on difficult words. Does everyone bother to do this or is it ok to post in just pencil? Any winners who have completed in pencil?

usually they prefer pen, cos it's easy to for others to change pencil entries and cheat.

We won the Sunday Express Crossword recently and it was in pencil!

I photocopy my crosswords or sometimes (when ink in photocopier is low) scan it and print it out from computer.

Papermate make a pen called Eraser.max which has a rubber on the end and will rub out any mistakes. I have tried it and it works very well. It costs �1.50 and is non-refillable. Just a thought....

There is a great crossword program called Puzzlex, of which I downloaded a free trial - you just build a grid like the one you're attempting and fill in answers on screen. It does have a search facility but I use the program purely for completing crosswords prior to filling in the real grid and sending off (providing I can come up with all the answers that is...!)
