Champs League Qualification After Winning The Uefa Cup, When Was This Put In Place?

I was surprised to hear about seville qualifying for the champs league because they won the uefa cup.

I wasn't aware either but maybe it's been in place for at least a year as they won the EUROPE league last year and maybe that's how they got in the Champions league ( and failed to get through the group stage so were moved into Europa league)

i haven't read yr link yet, but surely if you win this cup 3 times shouldn't that be sufficient for to enter the champs league? its just a thought

Just as an aside- I am not sure qualifying for the Champions League is seen as being so important. Yes, I can see it can help attract players but recent history suggests it is too much of a distraction to the Premier League campaign. The chances of an English side winning the Champions League next year are very slim indeed. I think Liverpool will be grateful to have no such distractions next season and I think we could see them in contention for the Premier League
