Urinary Tract Infection, Better Now After Taking Anti Biotics

I had a bit of a scare recently, luckily panic over now.
my question is how do you get urinary infections? because i think i'm fairly hygenic, so was i unlucky?

Something caused it, but yes you were unlucky. It's more common in women than men.

it was so personal, it took me 3 weeks to get the courage to see my local gp. and it gets worse, we hardly commuicate, due to the language barrier, plus its a tad delicate. so imagine me, i had what i needed to say on my phone after consulting my spanish novia, he just looked at it, and wrote out the prescription in seconds. and said only return to see him if it doesnt clear up after 6 days, luckliy it cleared up after exactly 6 days. will look at the nhs website now,
