does anyone know why it cost so much for this op...and has anyone had op who can tell me plus and negs truthfully plz i want to have this done with all info i can thnks

Can I ask how much overweight you are? Do you have any other health problems - asthma, diabetes for example?
I don't want to patronise you but ALL surgery carries major risks - you could die under anaesthetic, especially if you are massively overweight. If you are only slightly overweight you don't need this surgery.
Do you intend to have children later on? The lapband can cause serious problems for pregnant ladies.
I do think it is a real shame that people are prepared to go through this sort of treatment.

i really don't think at 4 st overwieight you need to have this operation. there are risks involved and if you are not seriously overweight i wouldn't have this operation. if you really want to go ahead then there is nothing any of us can say to persuade you otherwise. but please consider this seriously, you have three kids and a grandchild although the risks aren't that great things go wrong and your children could be left without you.
The lapband isn't 'magic'. It works because you physically cannot eat as much without being in chronic pain and violently sick.
If you look at the 'diet' for the first month after the surgery you will see that you will eat very little, mainly liquid food.
Forever afterwards the diet is extremely limited and can not fit easily with 'normal' family life. No Christmas dinners or special meals out. Even a burger at McDonalds would be difficult. This is NOT a good example to set to younger family members, even if you are prepared to forego a major part of social family life.
Many who have had this surgery get so frustrated with the diet they eventually cheat. Some put on more weight than they lost.
If you do stict rigidly to the diet you could lose weight too quickly. Unless you have very good skin tone, you could become baggy and saggy, with excess loose skin hanging from your face, upper arms, thighs and stomach especially. You will then want surgery to remove this.
If you are still convinced that you have the willpower, determination and strength of mind to undergo this operation you should be strong enough to follow the boring but far safer route of a healthy diet and more exercise. At least you will be able to eat normally and not be risking your life. As the weight will be lost more slowly your skin will recover much better.
The money you save by not having this operation can be better spent on a new wardrobe for you and a holiday for you and your family.
