Powerful Gods.

Are most Humans better than every God?
Most of us would save another human when possible, often putting ourselves in danger.
Gods just let innocent people, and indeed babies, die for no reason, and the grieving relatives are advised that it is a test of their faith or he has better plans for the departed. What a crock!

If what I experienced was the true presence of God then he is an egomaniac who has no regard for human life. If my experience was of a real god it shows he could make the world better NOW and everyone would WANT to please him. There would be no need of a test or time for the human race to realise we can't govern ourselves and all the other reasons given for his abscence.
He either doesn't exist or he is not a good entity.

Naomi, I was responding to the original post which explicitly buys into the premise that that there are 'Gods' as it then goes on to give details about how they let innocent people die.
If we believe that the premise is true, as the post does, then I added further details of how Gods also save lives, a balanced view if you like.

I know what you mean ll_billym, the post was of course written with my tongue planted firmly in my cheek.
It just shows how ridiculous religions are. If there really is a god as described in the 'holy' scriptures, all (s)he would have to do is stop the thousands of innocent children dying from starvation every day and bring total peace on Earth. If as a bonus, politicians were to tell the truth, the Church following would be so great that we'd have to build more.
The cruel carnage to test faith is just absurd.

Having had numerous "could've come a cropper" incidences throughout my life, I have turned this question over in, my mind, on many occasions.
Basically, the feeling that one has been "spared", by some deity's grace does have an ugly side effect: egotism, feelings of having been saved for some, as yet unknown, though often "special", purpose.
Played to good effect, the aspiring televangelist can expect to have their own private jet, car fleet and adoring hangers-on in under a decade.
