morning after pill

Last week during sex the condom split so I paniced and went to the clinic the following day for the morning after pill even though we stopped straight away when it happened. Prior to this I finished my period 5 days before hand so about a week and a half ago! Anyways tonight, I noticed that I'm bleeding again. Its not light but its not heavy. Is this my next period which has come majorly early because the pill has interfered with my menstrual cycle or just a side effect that will pass as a result of taking the emergency contraception? Does anyone have any experiences with this kind of thing? It's worried me slightly. Plus I'm due to start the pill on my next period so I'm unsure whether to start it tomorrow or not. help

Hi Diva- that has happened to me but Im not sure if its your actual period or not. Maybe check with a gp but I kept taking my pill as I would have done if it was my normal period and my body sorted itself out fine. I think this is quite common but I dont know if its your actual period or not. Better being safe than sorry I think so if I were you I would start taking the pill

the bleeding you mention is a side effect of the morning after pill. i assume when you say you are about to start the pill soon, you havnt been on it before. your period should come normally or a little bit late. ive encountered this myself. i would say wait until when your usual period is due, and a week or so after (as it may be late) and then start on the pill. hope this helps.

thank you for your replies. i rung brook helpline as well who said basically the same that its a side effect. its been 3 days now though and im still bleeding. not heavily like my normal period but its still there and only just going. hopefully ill come on properly in a few weeks, then iv been told to start taking the pills on the second day of my period. 21 days on and 7 days off beginning the next pack on the 8th day. thanks again for help. x

by the way cuz im bleeding does that mean that the morning after pill has worked and i am not pregnant or would this happen anyway?
