Don't know quite what you're all on about, but the French are different. Sounds to be about sex. The very first dinner-party I went to the (some-what elderly) host asked, out of the blue, if I was wearing a G-string!

No, they're very uncomfortable - and so I told him.....but then he wanted to know what I was wearing! This was a highly respectable party in rural France!

It's just different. Over the course of the evening he told me where he had been conceived and, later, showed us the house.

Actually his father had been a very brave man in the Resistance and he, as a child, had played his part. No problems.
