Age to work at bar serving alcohol?

jus wanted to clarify the legal age to serve alcohol and handle money behind a bar in a pub or restaurant???

You have to be 18 to serve alcohol.

Incorrect.....I was 17 but was undertaking some NVQ whilst doing it cos I was just so damned talented.

Think it was in catering or drink or something. Anway like I said I was legally put on the bar serving at 17.

i'm 17 now, and have served alcohol in hospitality for a large catering company, so would i be able to get a job behind a bar as im 17?

When I worked in a pub (a few years ago admittedly) I worked as a glass collector when I was 16 and 17 and was only allowed behind the bar to serve alcohol when I was 18. I'd check in your local.

Wrong. Section 153 of the Licensing Act 2003 changed these provisions with effect from 24th November last year. A peson of any age can sell alcohol in a bar provided that each sale is authorised by the licence holder, the designated premises supervisor or someone else over 18 who is authorised for such purposes. In a restaurant, this restriction does not apply and a person of any age can sell alcohol without this authorisation provided it is to go with a table meal.
