Haven't joined in for a while, and I'm returning with something almost detached from music – it certainly isn't a song, anyway! This is an extract from the video game The Last Of Us (for which you need to scroll forward to 36:50 in the video). The music doesn't come in until a few minutes later but it adds to the emotional impact of one of the most moving scenes you'll ever see in a video game. The back story – the story of the game – is a guy called Joel transporting a 14-y-o girl called Ellie from A to B, and the surrogate father/daughter bond that develops. Joel loses his daughter at the start of the game and can't bear the thought of losing someone else he cares for, so he falsely creates emotional distance. This 'showdown' set piece is truly magnificent, and the music is a perfect match.
