If, say, you wanted to send 40 x 3Mb images, it's probably simplest just to send three emails (with about 13 images attached to each mail).
Otherwise there are plenty of free services which allow you to upload files to their server and then send a download link to the intended recipient. You need to note, however, that such free services exist to tempt you into signing up for (and paying for) a 'premium' service, so the free versions often come with restrictions (such as far slower uploads/downloads than with the paid-for versions). Simply googling 'send large files' will find you loads of possibilities.
A far better alternative (in my opinion) is to sign up for a free email account with GMX:

You don't actually need to use the account for sending or receiving emails though. You can simply log in and upload files to a folder which you can create within the free online storage space that comes with the account. (You get 2GB). Then all you then need to do is to click the 'share' option, which sends a link to the person you'd like to have access to that folder. Easy peasy!
