but really, he is hilarious. Not sure if it's intentional or not, but he cracks me up! He must know how ridiculous he looks and sounds...I always think he's very tongue in cheek....especially if you saw him on Soccer am recently, he was "crazy funny" ;o)

Radio 1 is hardly the credible haunt of the true 'gangsta' now is it?
Radio 1 takes all sorts of musical forms, picks the weakest most commercial of all of them then rebrands for the average single buyer (now 12 years old and female).
The only genre that Radio 1 accurately presents is out and out pop, any pretence that it is an indie/rap/rock/hip-hop station is a joke along with all its presenters.

He is a prat but he's actually a very nice one. My deaf son met him ( he's into pimped cars) and he spent loads of time chatting to him and was really affable and pleasant and seemed to have a lot of time for everyone, which is more than I've come across with a lot of "celebrities". Bit of a dork on TV but not a bad bloke.

I get the feeling that until fairly recently he did take himself worryingly seriously. However, I suspect that in this post-Ali G world, his agent has taken him to one side and advised him that as people are laughing at him anyway, he'd be better off slipping into self-parody.

Oh yeah, and that "drive-by shooting" he survived a while back - was that genuine? What self-respecting drive-by assassin would waste bullets on a harmless pillock like Westwood? Fair enough, I'd have driven round the block and gone in for another go just to make sure, but then (sigh) I've never really been "gangsta".

I tune in if I'm in the car - mainly to laugh about 'feeling my age' because I don't understand a word he says!

He does seem to latch onto a phrase and repeat it ad nauseum, and he and his guests shout cliches at each other which make them sound like the gansta equivalent of Smashie & Nicey!

I believe he is respected by rap fans, so fair play - his music and style are not aimed at me, or my generation, so I leave him to it.

He does make me laugh thouh!
