Why cant I play retail dvd's on my LG RZ32LZ55

I have a LITEON LVW-5005 DVD recorder which I have just connected to my new TV . (LG RZ32LZ55). I can play recorded DVD 's but not FILMs bought on DVD.

IM currently connected via a scart lead to AV2. Can anyone help me ? IT tries to play but gives a dijointed image.

Its ok now. I needed to upload updated firmware from www.liteonit.com. Now its working great.
