Returning An Item Which Is Now On Sale
24 Answers
Hi, I'd like some advice please. I bought a jumper from Sainsburys for £14. After trying it on at home it wasn't for me so I returned it, 17 days after the date of purchase. I was told that because the jumper was now in the sale at half price I would only be refunded £7. I sucked it up at the time but I am not sure if it was right. I paid full price, so surely I should get full price back? I would have preferred £14 store credit. I appreciate it'a not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but am curious to know if this is correct. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

The lining split sometime later, so I emailed them to ask if I could return it for an exchange. They told me not to bother sending it back, but they'd send me a new one anyway. They also gave me £50 back as it was reduced in the sale to £50.
So pleased that we were not the only ones who "cashed" cheques at M and S on a Friday or Saturday afternoon! Ah, pre ATM days.
On the topic, I've never been refused a refund at the rate I paid when I had the receipts, I know someone who returned an item for a full price refund and the woman behind her asked to buy it, and of course she got it at the lower price. They were good friends apparently.
