We have the radio on at work and this song seems to be constantly on. It's driving me mad! And since when did punks wear flowers in their hair??!

it's a combination wish - she thinks being a 60s hippie or a 70* **** - or even both, which is impossible, which is the joke behind the song - would have placed her at significant and exciting moments in cultural history, instead of blah today. It sounds rather like Janis Joplin's a cappella singing of Lord Won't You Buy Me a Merceds Benz, if anyone's ever heard that. Hear it on her website:

My vote is definitely for Wisemen as the most irritating song around at the moment. I much prefer Sandi Thom's song, and as Quizmonkey and Whickerman suggested, the lyrics do make sense.
