£78 call out charge to fix a combi oven/microwave/grill.
Anyone think that's a bit steep?

Yes , you heard right Ummmm, plus parts...
Yes, it is a bit steep, but it sounds to be about the going rate nowadays.
have a look at local newspapers, might be some that charge £25 or so for a call out fee
Not worth getting repaired these days. I suppose you could take in for repair, save the call out charges
Sling it and get a new one, cupes.
can buy one for that !
Makes more sense to get a nice new one nowadays.Talking about call out fees, an elderly friend of mine had a gardener in, he wasnt there much more than half an hour and he said he wanted £75. When he had picked her jaw up from the ground and asked him why it wasso much , he said there was a call out fee of £45, even though he lived locally.
I dont know how some people can sleep at night, talk about daylight robbery.
My Mum was quoted £85 callout last week to replace a washer on her kitchen tap.
And some wonder why we have turned into a wasteful 'throw-away' society.
I hate throwing away anything that should be repairable. Maybe part of the generation I am, the era I grew up in, or something, but it just goes against the grain. I always feel bad slinging that which took effort to create, before it is strictly necessary.
